The outset inauguration of Thomas Jefferson as the third president of the The states was held on Wednesday, March iv, 1801. The inauguration marked the showtime of the outset four-yr term of Thomas Jefferson as president and the only iv-yr term of Aaron Burr as vice president. Jefferson was the nation'due south 2d vice president, under President John Adams, and ran confronting him as a Democratic-Republican in the 1800 presidential election with campaign manager Aaron Burr.
